Tehran
Tehran (Persian: تهران), is the capital city of Iran. A bustling metropolis of 14 million people, it is situated at the foot of the towering Alborz mountain range.
Tehran is a cosmopolitan city, with great museums, parks, restaurants, warm friendly people. It deserves at least a few days of your Iranian itinerary.
The city can be roughly divided into two different parts - north and south. The northern districts of Tehran are more prosperous, modern, cosmopolitan and expensive while southern parts is less attractive but cheaper.
At the time of the Zand dynasty, it was a little town that was significant from a strategic point of view. The first of the Qajar kings, Agha Mohammed Khan, named Tehran as the country's capital in 1778, and most of its growth started during the reign of a subsequent Qajar monarch, Fath-Ali Shah. The castle which Agha Mohammed Khan had built was to contain the new majestic buildings.
At the same time, the city's populace was redoubled. Due to the increasing significance of the city, gates, squares and mosques were built and it was at the time of Nassereddin Shah that the city's master sketch was prepared and modern streets were constructed. Later, huge central squares like Toopkhaneh square (now Imam Khomeini) and quite a few military buildings were built. Even though the Qajar dynasty was in a period of decline, Tehran soon took the shape of a modern city. The structure of large government buildings, new streets, recreation centres, urban service organizations, and academic and methodical centres were started, even as most of the old gates and buildings were destroyed and the city's old architectural fabric replaced by a contemporary one.
Tehran has also earned itself the rather unenviable reputation as a smog-filled, traffic-clogged and featureless sprawl of concrete bursting at the seams with 14 million residents. But you can also find an endless number of nice and cosy places in and around the city - if you know where to look. Tehran is also a city of parks and possesses more than 800 of them, all well-kept. The city is nearly a mile high above sea level and as a result is cooler than other cities in the middle east. Summer temperatures are around 32°C or about 90-95°F. The air tends to be very dry.
A combination of factors make Tehran a pleasant place to visit: The dry climate which is constantly cool (at least in the evenings), the proximity of the mountains, the parks and gardens where flowers blossom all through the year, the alleys of trees in the avenues or even smaller streets, and even the water that runs down from the upper city along deep and wide gutters which look like small rivers during spring. The Alborz range on the north of Tehran, which hosts the highest peak in Iran, provides fantastic conditions for ski lovers in the winter. In winter, the mountain hotels and ski-clubs at Shemshak, and Dizine are full several days a week. Some specialist skiers consider the snow value in northern Tehran to be one of the most excellent in the world.

History:
Robert Cornelius, an American pioneer in photography, produced a daguerreotype of himself in 1839 which is also one of the first photographs of a person. Because the process was slow he was able to uncover the lens, run into shot for a minute or more, and then replace the lens cap. He recorded on the back "The first light Picture ever taken. 1839
The debut of the portable Kodak Brownie box camera in 1900 led to photographic self-portraiture becoming a more widespread technique. The method was usually by mirror and stabilizing the camera either on a nearby object or on a tripod while framing via a viewfinder at the top of the box. Russian Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna at the age of 13 was one of the first teenagers to take her own picture using a mirror to send to a friend in 1914. In the letter that accompanied the photograph, she wrote, "I took this picture of myself looking at the mirror. It was very hard as my hands were trembling."
The concept of uploading group self-taken photographs (now known as super selfies) to the internet, although with a disposable camera not a smartphone, dates to a webpage created by Australians in September 2001, including photos taken in the late 1990s (captured by the Internet Archive in April 2004). The earliest usage of the word selfie can be traced as far back as 2002. It first appeared in an Australian internet forum (ABC Online) on 13 September 2002.

The Hunger Game T Shirt
The Hunger Games is a 2012 American science fiction adventure film directed by Gary Ross and based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. The picture is the first installment in The Hunger Games film series and was produced by Nina Jacobsonand Jon Kilik, with a screenplay by Ross, Collins and Billy Ray. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth,Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.

The story takes place in a dystopianpost-apocalyptic future in the nation of Panem, where boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 must take part in the Hunger Games, a televised annual event in which the "tributes" are required to fight to the death until there is one remaining who will be crowned the victor. Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) volunteers to take her younger sister's place in the games. Joined by her district's male tribute Peeta Mellark (Hutcherson), Katniss travels to the Capitol to train for the Hunger Games under the guidance of former victor Haymitch Abernathy (Harrelson).
Development of The Hunger Games began in March 2009 when Lions Gate Entertainment entered into a co-production agreement with Color Force, which had acquired the rights a few weeks earlier. Collins collaborated with Ray and Ross to write the screenplay. The screenplay expanded the character of Seneca Crane to allow several developments to be shown directly to the audience and Ross added several scenes between Crane and Coriolanus Snow. The main characters were cast between March and May 2011. Principal photography began in May 2011 and ended in September 2011, and filming took place in North Carolina. The Hunger Games was shot entirely on film as opposed to digital.
The film was released on March 21, 2012, in France and in the US on March 23, 2012, in both conventional theaters and digitalIMAX theaters. Japan received it last, on September 28. When the film released, it set records for opening day ($67.3 million) and opening weekend for a non-sequel.At the time of its release, the film's opening weekend gross ($152.5 million) was the third-largest of any movie in North America. It is the first film since Avatar to remain in first place at the North American box office for four consecutive weekends. The film was a massive box-office success by grossing over $691 million worldwide against its budget of $78 million, making it the third-highest-grossing film in the United States and ninth-highest-grossing worldwide of 2012.It was released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on August 18, 2012. With 7,434,058 units sold, the DVD was the best-selling DVD of 2012.
The Hunger Games received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its themes and messages, as well as Jennifer Lawrence's portrayal of Katniss. Like the novel, the film has attracted criticism for its similarities to other works, such as the Japanese novelBattle Royale and its film adaptation, and the Shirley Jackson short story "The Lottery". Collins' novel and screenplay drew on sources of inspiration such as the myth of Theseus, Roman gladiatorial games, reality television, and the desensitization of viewers to media coverage of real-life tragedy and war, not to think as just an audience member, "Because those are real people on the screen, and they’re not going away when the commercials start to roll. The song "Safe & Sound" won a Grammy Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. For her performance, Lawrence won the Saturn Award for Best Actress, the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress in an Action Movie, the Empire Award for Best Actress and was also nominated for the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress. A sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, was released on November 22, 2013 in the United States.
news:
The rebel underground lives in this new teaser for Hunger Games
One aspect I enjoy from THE HUNGER GAMES is its political satire. Last month, Donald Sutherland's President Snow addressed Panem promoting unity, with a backhanded threat of starvation. This new teaser starts out similarly, before being hijacked by the rebellion. Methinks Donald and Co. are going to have some trouble on their hands come this Fall.

2014 German GP: Nico Rosberg wins at home as Lewis Hamilton surges to third
Hamilton thrills en-route to podium from
20th, but Valtteri Bottas pips him to second; Rosberg extends title lead
to 14 points; Felipe Massa flipped at the first corner after Kevin
Magnussen clash
Nico Rosberg comfortably won his home German GP
for the first time to re-extend his World Championship lead as a
thrilling recovery drive from Lewis Hamilton delivered a vital podium
finish – but just fell agonisingly short of second place.
Just
like qualifying, Sunday at Hockenheim proved a day of contrasts for
Mercedes’ title-duelling drivers. However, unlike on Saturday, when
Hamilton crashed in Q1 to deepen his recent qualy gloom, the final
results were not quite so sharply contrasting. While Rosberg serenely streaked away from pole position and was rarely seen – let alone troubled – thereafter to record his fourth win of 2014, Hamilton spent all the 67 laps in full-out attack mode as he surged through the field towards the podium.
Starting 20th after an overnight gearbox change, the Briton’s stunningly-fast W05 just about survived separate incidents of contact with three drivers – Adrian Sutil, Kimi Raikkonen, and most significantly of all when he damaged his front-wing, former team-mate Jenson Button – amid a succession of passing moves at the circuit’s inviting hairpin.
Running a long opening stint on the more durable soft tyres, Hamilton was up to second by lap 16 and although a late switch from a two to three-stop strategy following his Button clash appeared to increase his workload, the Briton flew once more during the course of two shorter final stints on the supersoft rubber.
Like the dominant Rosberg - who won by 20 seconds despite apparently cruising for more than half the race - Williams' in-form Valtteri Bottas also made just two visits to the pits but when the Finn was being caught hand over fist by Hamilton into the closing laps another Mercedes one-two appeared inevitable.

WWE Battleground 2014: John Cena beats The Authority; Dean Ambrose goes crazy
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The WWE put together one of its best lineups of
matches in 2014 during Sunday night's Battleground pay-per-view. Some
matches lived up to the hype, others didn't, while the ending proved to
be rather predictable.
The night opened with yet another showdown between The Usos and The Wyatt Family (Erick Rowan and Luke Harper). It seems like the two teams have faced off a dozen times this year.
Yet, I'm not sure anyone was complaining Sunday night. That's because The Usos and The Wyatt Family put forth an early contender for match of the night that would be hard to top. The two-out-of-three falls format was rather meaningless as the match still lasted just as long as the previous ones.

Film and television world pays tribute to actor James Garner
• Rockford Files star had 'Charm, humour, but most of all – class'
• War record and support for civil rights recalled
• War record and support for civil rights recalled
The American film and television world reacted with sadness on
Sunday to news of the death of the Emmy winning actor James Garner, who died in Los Angeles at the age of 86.
The Star Trek star William Shatner said: “Sending thoughts and prayers to the family of James Garner this morning.”
Garner, who had open-heart surgery in 1988 and suffered a stroke in 2008, was reported to have died of natural causes.
Born in Norman, Oklahoma, on 7 April 1928, he began his acting career in the 1950s, after serving in the Korean war, in which he was wounded twice. He was best known for his roles as a wise-cracking Wild West card sharp, in Maverick, and an ex-con turned private eye in The Rockford Files.
Primarily known as a star of the small screen – he made a number of Rockford Files TV movies, despite leaving the regular series in 1980 – Garner gained one Oscar nomination, for the 1985 romantic comedy Murphy's Romance, in which he played a small-town druggist opposite Sally Field. He also had supporting roles in The Great Escape – as a military “scrounger”, reportedly based on his own experiences in uniform – Support Your Local Sheriff! and the 1994 big-screen version of Maverick, with Mel Gibson.
In 2004 he had a late-career hit in Nick Cassavetes's The Notebook, in which he played the husband of a character, played by Gena Rowlands, suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
On Sunday, many actors and directors used Twitter to pay tribute. The director Ron Howard said Garner was “admired by all who knew him” and added: “When starring in [1966 motor racing film] Grand Prix the people around F1 said he had the talent to be a pro driver.”
From Britain, the Sherlock writer and star Mark Gatiss said: “Goodbye, Jim Rockford. The wonderful, amiable James Garner has gone.”
Stephen Fry said: “So sad to hear that James Garner has gone. A real part of my childhood, Rockford and the Maverick especially.”
Back in the US, the actor Bruce Campbell said “Tip of the hat to James Garner. Charm, humour, but most of all – class”, while the Sixth Sense star Haley Joel Osment saluted “the just dearly departed Legend James Garner” and added: “Rest in Peace.”
Marlee Matlin, who is deaf and who acted with Garner in a 1997 TV movie, Dead Silence, wrote: “Sad to read my dear friend and costar James Garner passed. RIP sweet Jim Rockford.”
The actor and writer Molly Ringwald tweeted: “I think James Garner was my first crush.”
Tributes also came from outside the film world. The CNN news anchor Jake Tapper noted Garner's support for the civil rights movement of the 1960s, saying “RIP James Garner” and tweeting a photo of the actor with Paul Newman, Marlon Brando and James Baldwin at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on 28 August 1963.
NBC's Chuck Todd said: “Loved James Garner in just about every role, even as the lovable rogue ex-prez in My Fellow Americans. Character loosely based on Clinton?”
On Sunday, the Los Angeles Times cited the late director Robert Altman, who said in 1979: “I have long thought Jim Garner was one of the best actors around. He is often overlooked because he makes it so easy, and that is not easy to do. I don't know anyone in the business with his charm and charisma who can act so well.”
The newspaper also quoted Clint Eastwood, with whom Garner starred in Space Cowboys in 2000 and who followed Garner from the small screen. Eastwood said Garner “opened the door for people like Steve McQueen and myself”.
The Star Trek star William Shatner said: “Sending thoughts and prayers to the family of James Garner this morning.”

Big Brother 2014: Danielle McMahon evicted from the Big Brother house to loud boos
The Catholic glamour model was chosen for eviction from the Channel 5 reality show by new housemates Zoe Birkett and Pavandeep Paul after they were forced to make their choice live.
Danielle was loudly booed when she left the house but insisted that she was OK.
Earlier in the episode, Biannca Lake stripped off and flashed her boobs to the crowd when she was evicted.
The stripper - who entered the house earlier this week as part of Big Brother: Armageddon - stripped off her top as the door's opened, baring her breasts to the crowd and audience.
Host Emma Willis greeted her with the immortal line: "As beautiful as they are, I'm glad you put them away."
When asked how she was feeling about leaving, a now fully-dressed Biannca said: "I'm a bit gutted anyway to go out now, but I had a wicked time anyway. Thank you.
Despite previously claims that she would be exposing Helen Wood's past as an escort to the house, she revealed that she was actually friends with her.
She said: "I think she's a wicked person, I don't think she's nasty at all."
Earlier in the episode, Biannca was seen stripping naked and rolling around in sewage.
